Special Crispy Heart Pops
Here I go again! Another yummy treat for the Young Women at church. This time it was for "Cake Sunday". Each month on the 3rd Sunday, we celebrate all the birthdays for the month by eating cake. Instead of cake, I brought these cute rice crispy treats on a stick in honor of Valentine's day. They were delish and I'm sure they had a lot less calories and fat then cake. Right?????? Plus, I got a cute, Wilton Heart Cookie Pan that I wanted to try out. Have you seen those?
Okay! You could probably make these without the directions, but just in case....here's how I did it.
Special Crispy Heart Pops
3 Tbsp Butter or Margarine
1 10 oz. bag of mini marshmallows
6 cups crispy rice cereal
In a large microwave safe bowl, add the butter and marshmallows. Place bowl in microwave for 30 seconds and then stir. Microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until marshmallows are fully melted. Add rice cereal and stir until cereal is well coated.
To make pops: Spray heart cookie pan with non-stick cooking spray and place a large spoonful on each heart. Coat spatula with cooking spray and press the mixture firmly into the heart mold. Make sure that the heart is densely packed with the mixture so that it will hold a stick. Press stick firmly into the bottom of the heart about 2 inches. I used Wilton 6" sticks. Gently turn out on wax paper and repeat with remaining mixture. This will make approximately 12 heart pops.
To decorate: Place white candy melts in a snack size zipper baggie. Microwave baggie for 30 seconds, remove from microwave and squeeze the candy melts. Replace in microwave for another 20-30 seconds and squeeze again until fully melted. Cut a tiny hole in bottom corner of bag and drizzle over the pops. Repeat with pink candy melts. Add some sprinkles while chocolate is still wet.
Add a treat bag and a cute bow and voila.....you have a creative gift. Imagination is the limit with these and this is so versatile for any holiday or occasion. Have fun!
By the way: For all of you on Weight Watchers, here is a recipe for 2 Point Rice Crispy Treats!
