Do you remember how fun it was to have a sleepover with your best friend?

I LOVED spending the night with my best friend Lori. We collected stickers, so I would be sure to bring over my sticker book. Our sticker books were photo albums filled with every kind of sticker you could imagine. We loved to trade stickers. I would give her a "puffy" sticker for a scratch-n-sniff. Or a Hello Kitty for a My Melody. I wonder what ever happened to that old sticker book.

I'll never forget the time that we took a tape recorder into her parents room and tried to record them snoring. We were trying so hard not to giggle and wake them up.

We would stay up as late as we could and tell jokes, ghost stories and just laugh. Those were such good times.

Well, my daughter had her first sleepover last week. She and her friend had a great time and it just brought back memories of me and Lori. Lucky for her, they didn't try to sneak into my room and record my husband snoring. Of course they wouldn't be able to get me on tape because I DON"T snore! :)

Well, Kenna wanted to make something yummy for breakfast so I made these muffins that taste like doughnuts. That's what they are called- "Muffins that Taste Like Doughnuts!" The kids dipped the muffins in the melted butter and cinnamon and sugar mixture so they loved that!

Try these out with your kids!

Muffins that Taste Like Doughnuts

Ingredients
  • 1-¾ cup Flour
  • 1-½ teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ⅓ cups Oil
  • ¾ cups White Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¾ cups Milk
  • _____
  • FOR THE TOPPING:
  • ¼ cups Butter
  • ⅓ cups White Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon

Instructions

Combine flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Combine oil, sugar, egg and milk. Add dry ingredients and stir only to combine.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a bowl. Combine the white sugar with the cinnamon in another bowl.

Shake muffins out while still hot. Dip muffins in butter, then into the sugar/cinnamon mix. Let cool.

  3. Thanks Melo for taking me back memory lane...I loved having sleepovers, and especially with you! I loved my sticker book it was a prize possesion, my mom found it lst year in a box and i have it now. I need to show it to Naomi someday. It was so fun spending the night at your home because we got to sleep in your huge bedroom with 3 beds and a walk- in closet. I remember hiding in the closet and teasing your older sisters and spying on them. I remember swimming in your pool and pretending we were Olympic divers and standing on the edge of your spa and saying, " My name is...and I am from "Hungry" and I am very Hungry...LOL. Then we would always get a perfect 10. I have alot fun and wonderful memories with you growing up. Thanks Melody!
