This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Jimmy Dean, however the feelings and opinions expressed here are my own.
The New Year is almost here! I love to think of a New Year and a new beginning. Here are some healthy changes that I want to make in 2011:
In the AM I want to:
*My goal is to do 30 minutes of cardio on my treadmill or stationary bike 5 days per week in the AM before breakfast.
*Start my day with a good breakfast that includes protein. Don't you hate when you are starving by 10am? I am usually that way if I only eat a bowl of cereal. I don't notice those "hunger pangs" when I eat some sort of protein for breakfast. I recently tried a Jimmy Dean D-Lites Turkey Sausage Muffin and felt satisfied and energetic all morning. I especially loved that I could have a healthy, hot breakfast that I could eat in the car on my way to work.
All throughout the day I want to:
*Drink lots of water. There are so many great health benefits of drinking water and I need to end my diet soda addiction!
*Have fresh fruit and veggies available for quick healthy snacks.
In the PM I want to:
*Limit my carbohydrates after 3PM.
*Go to the gym and do strength training 3-5 times per week while my kids are at karate.
*Get to bed before 10 PM on weeknights to get at least 8 hours of sleep.
That seems do-able! The New Year is all about re-evaluating where you are now and how to make little changes that can add up to a better and healthier you!
I hope you you will take some time and write down some of the healthy choices you want to make this year.

Those are great goals! I'm hoping to improve my energy and lose some weight. My goal is week-time bed time of 10 pm, drinking more water, cutting out the "extras" in my diet -- including snacking, getting exercise and eating more fiber. Good luck on your goals! Hopefully we can achieve them!

I need to add some form of regular exercise to my life – the kind I can maintain. I live on the beach, so I’m thinking walking the path along the shore for 30 minutes 5 days a week would be enjoyable and manageable. If I have time/energy for more – great!
ReplyDeleteI also need to cut back on my smoking. Yeah, I need to quit – but that feels like setting myself up to fail. Then I’d just chuck the whole idea. So instead I’m shooting for cutting back by 1/2. That seems do-able! And who knows, maybe success at that will inspire me to quit completely.
If at the end of 2011 I’m exercising twice as much and only smoking half as much I’ll count it as a big win for my health!

ReplyDeleteI am not a big drinker but have found myself having a few drinks a month when I used to have one every few months. My healthy plan is to exercise more, eat better and be more aware...but I may not start out like gangbusters...I'll start with little things. Like a better breakfast to start the day. Parking farther away or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Turning on music in the evening instead of taking a nap and making myself move to music and recharging.
